Policies
Telephone PolicyWhen a telephone call is necessary regarding a health problem, please let us know your physician's name and a message will be taken. We will evaluate the problem, and return your call with appropriate instructions. There may be times when you will have to be put on "hold" or asked to return your call, as your caregiver may already be engaged in a procedure, preventing him or her from coming to the phone.
Emergency CoverageDirect your emergency calls to our office telephone number for assistance. A physician is always on call during the hours the office is closed. Under these circumstances, you will be directed to the appropriate alternative number, and the physician will return you call as soon as possible. The problem may be handled over the phone, or you may be directed to the Emergency Care Unit at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center to be seen by the physician on duty. Emergency services are available to you 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
LaboratoryBlood and urine tests ordered by the physician can be obtained on-site (at the Kutztown office) for examination. You may be asked to come in for review of the test.
MedicationsRequests for medications or medication refills should be phoned in to your physician's office, Monday through Friday. We ask that you do not wait until your prescription is completely gone before calling for a refill. Please allow 48 hours for the processing of your prescription request. We request you pick up your refill at the office. Refill requests will not be filled over the phone; this is to guarantee your safety.
Medical RecordsContents of medical records are released only with the written consent of the patient. Information in your chart is confidential. For your protection, NO INFORMATION IS RELEASED WITHOUT YOUR SIGNED AUTHORIZATION. In order to keep your medical records current at all times, especially in case of emergencies, please notify the Medical Center immediately of any changes of address or telephone number.
FeesOur fees include the time the physician spends with you, as well as time he or she spent reviewing records, interpreting test results, and planning your care. We require that payment be made at the time of services are provided. We accept cash, personal checks, Mastercard®, and Visa® .
AppointmentsOur appointment schedule is designed to keep you from waiting. That is why, when you call for an appointment, we ask the nature of the problem. This allows us to schedule the time that you will need with your physician. Serious problems are always given priority, and we keep time open each day for emergency patients. If you need to see us on an emergency basis, we ask that you call first so that we can let you know how quickly we can see you. If you need a test or procedure, like blood work or x-rays, we will usually give you two appointments- one for the test, and a second appointment on a different day to see your physician. This approach allows us to share the results of the test with you, and then discuss what other services you may need. On arrival at the office, please check in at the front desk, so that we may process your record and let your physician's nurse know you are here.
